 New York Listing #11730

By Owner

$1,800,000   the quietest loft in SoHo

Manhattan Downtown (Below 14th Street) SoHo

Elevator
Loft
Outdoor Space

FOR SALE: the quietest loft in SoHo, 1825 square feet, 11’ ceilings, divided with separate bedroom and study, 200 yards south of NYU library, 100 yards away from its pool/gym, mellow concrete secure friendly coop (that since 1974 has never turned down a serious buyer) with a self-service elevator, Britannica artist/writer asking 1.9 million, monthly maint. approx. $2000, some of which is tax deductible,
Know that the strongest nibbles have come from a couple long in SoHo whose stairs they can no longer climb and academics who’d like to retire to NYC, which is a good idea, given the cultural richness that still distinguishes downtown from the uptown.
My sense is that that the new owner would want to refinish the peeling ceiling, install a new kitchen and perhaps a new bathroom. Both nibblers wanted to keep the interior walls that now separate a bedroom in a front corner and a supremely quiet study/library in a back corner. It should be empty by August. Nearly two dozen years ago, Wordship, as I christened it, was featured on the front page of the NY TIMES Thursday Home Section with the headline: "Living with Too Many Books."
A real estate pro judged my price above “very, very reasonable.”
